While working in a palliative care team, I saw the immense value in supporting people in their own home. This steered me towards working in domiciliary care in the home care sector, and now working with Ribbesford Home Care. 

 

Not only can I provide a service that gives the opportunity for people to live independently and stay in their home, but I can also fully support my team and value them for the professional and caring service they provide, which often goes unnoticed. I feel a great sense of privilege to be part of a company that truly values their staff and in being able to help people maintain their independence through their life.

 

My day to day includes overseeing the delivery of high-quality person centred care given by our team. Also meeting and speaking with our clients and their loved ones, whilst ensuring our teams have a full schedule of training in place to maintain high standards of care as set out by our regulatory body.

 

Another part of my role that I am incredibly passionate about is the extra things that we do as a team to enhance people’s wellbeing, and for me personally, supporting people living with dementia.

 

Away from work I love being in my garden, I have a little vegetable patch and enjoy growing vegetables and tending to my flower beds. A few years ago my husband taught me wood turning, so I quite often spend my time making items like fruit bowls.
